The price I sell stolen children depends on their HIV status –Suspect
A suspect who engages in stealing and selling children says the price for which he sells the stolen kids depends on their HIV status.
The suspect, Emmaunel Udeagwu who was paraded alongside his accomplice, Celestina Enebeli by the Delta State police command, said he has been engaged in the crime for almost a year and has stolen countless number of children but has only succeeded in selling nine of them.
According to him, he sold the children at the rate of N250, 000 for those who were HIV positive and N300, 000 for healthy ones.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Zanna, also announced during the parade of 18 suspects in Asaba, that his men foiled an attempt by suspected militants to blow up an oil pipeline.
The pipeline, according to Zanna, belongs to the Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC, at Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State.
The police boss disclosed that his men, who acted on a tip off, recovered high calibre Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, with which they wanted to blow up the pipeline.
On the paraded suspects, Zanna said they were arrested in connection with crimes ranging from armed robbery, car snatching, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism to child theft.
According to him, two semi automatic guns, two packets of live cartridges, four vehicles, nine bags of cement and 87 pieces of counterfeit euro currency notes were recovered from the suspects.
