Don’t play politics with FG’s investment programme -Buhari Support Organization tells Igbo youths
The Buhari Support Organization, BSO, on Sunday urged Igbo youths not to play politics with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government’s Social Investment Programmes.
In a meeting at Nsukka during the weekend the BSO, Enugu State Chapter, called on the Igbo Youths nationwide to participate actively in the scheme.
The Publicity Secretary of the organization, Mr, Eze Chibueze said the programme “is aimed, especially for the empowerment of youths.”
According to him, “President Buhari wants to empower youths to become successful farmers, traders and artisans.
“Nigeria is amongst the ten most populous countries on earth and in this cadre, only three of the countries have 60% youth population.
“The president reasons that something urgent must be done to empower and turn this youth population to a demographic advantage.”
On how this can be achieved, Chibueze added, ‘the Social Investment Programmes being coordinated by Mrs Mariam Uwais, Special Adviser, which is under the Vice President’s Office and in coordination with Ministry of Labour, Bank of Industry, CBN, and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies has marshaled out plans to fund Cooperative Societies nationwide, Youth Enterprise Scheme, Graduate Empowerment Fund and Buhari Agro-Land Army Nationwide (BALAN)’.
“The Buhari Agro-Land Army Nationwide for instance, has the intendment to revive the plantation agriculture across the country, taking into cognizance of the comparative advantage of each geo-political zone farm produce – Cocoa and Rubber for the West, Cereals for the North, Palm produce for the East, Fish farming for the South South and Fruits and Vegetables for all regions.
“Accordingly, we appeal to our brothers and sisters to participate in the Buhari Social investment Programs, as the blue collar job of the public service cannot absorb millions of the greatest Nigerian youths.”
