How Ndigbo can get their fair share of national cake – Obiano, Ekwueme
The Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, yesterday declared that the people of the South-East can only get their fair share of the national cake when they form a common front on national issues.
Aligning with the governor’s position, a former vice president, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, went down memory lane on how Ndigbo used to help one another, when, according to him, there was unity among the people.
They both spoke at Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State during the Southern Conference’s Traders’ summit organised by Anambra Consensus Project. The event featured 57 best traders and commercial entrepreneurs in the 57 major markets in the state.
Obiano, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, said there must be a link between trade and industrialisation, adding that his administration would always work with traders to develop the state.
For Ekwueme, “Ndigbo should come together as one for their voice to be heard. Our people should unite, and we have to be our brother’s keepers. Otherwise, we will remain where we are today”.
Before now, Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie, had while advising all Igbos to come together with one voice and work in unity, asserted that “If all the Igbos come together and say this is where we shall stand, no president of Nigeria will turn their back on us.”
