Enugu Rangers parade NPFL trophy in old rusty truck
Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers have been heavily criticised by Nigerians and fans over the awkward celebration of their Nigeria topflight triumph.
The new champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, earlier last week announced that they were planning a victory parade around the state.
But the much anticipated trophy parade ended in a ridiculous manner as the NPFL champions paraded the major streets of Enugu in a worn-out open truck.
The Flying Antelopes defeated El Kanemi Warriors 4-0 on the last day of the league to end their 32 years wait for the Nigeria topflight diadem.
The team paraded some major roads during the weekend with the aim of celebrating their triumph with their teeming fans and well-wishers in a bizarre manner as fans expressed shock at the carnival.
However, the club has apologised through their Twitter handle, @RangersIntFC, for the show of shame.
It wrote, “We are sincerely sorry for the embarrassment yesterday during our victory parade. God bless you all.”
Enugu Rangers and Rivers United will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.
